So Brett and I are trying out the New Year's Resolution scene. Our goal: to work out three times a week. Shouldn't be too difficult to complete since our club house has a gym in it. Surprisingly we have failed to utilize this aspect of our home in the past. Why you may ask... that is a good question. We don't really know. Usually we blame the winter weather, but since the gym is literally outside of our front door the excuse falls flat.
Now it is time to get serious. I want to lose some of this "winter warmth" I have started to accumulate. Brett wants to gain weight (blah blah blah). I cannot take him seriously. Most people make the New Year's resolution of losing a couple pounds or eating healthier. Then you have Brett Marshall. He doesn't eat cheese, mayo, cream sauces, casseroles, eggs, really sugary things, or anything delicious at all! OK maybe that last one is a little over the top, but you get the point. He is the healthiest person I know. So while he is at the gym to GAIN a few; I am there desperately trying to lose it.
Today I felt like I was actually making progress at the gym. Brett and I go together before most people are home from work. We rotate cardio and weight training days. Today Brett was working the weights while I was busting out the cardio. Let's be honest.. cardio is probably the least fun thing to do when you are as out of shape as I am. You're huffing and puffing and your face turns red. You try not to start breathing super heavy immediately but you can't help it. Then you get a side ache and it is all over from there. I might be being a little dramatic, but we all know the feeling. Anyways, I was starting my work out slowly. I walked for about a quarter of a mile and then picked it up to a jog. Before I knew it BAM! I ran 1 1/4 mile. I know that isn't super impressive, but for me it is :). I felt very accomplished. All in all I traveled about 2 miles when it was all said and done. I think I am going to like this New Year's Resolution business.
